Abigail Gellene-Beaudoin earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California in 2014, specializing in Mental Health and Military Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), and holds certifications in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) and Advanced Hospice and Palliative Care Social Work (APHSW-C).
Abigail works with clients coping with depression, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions, with specific expertise in medical complexity, chronic or terminal illness, grief and loss, perinatal mood disorders, and perinatal loss. With children, she uses Child-Centered Play Therapy model to help them express emotions and build resilience through play. For teenagers and adults, her approach is person-centered with elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to promote self-awareness, emotional regulation, and effective problem-solving. Abigail is dedicated to creating a therapeutic space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered on their healing journey.
Abigail has written two children’s books to help families cope with anticipatory grief: “Our Baby is Loved” addresses expecting a baby with a life-threatening medical condition, and “When Hope Changes” focuses on loved ones facing terminal illness or death. Her books aim to make discussing these challenging topics with children more manageable for families.
In her free time, Abigail enjoys spending time with her family, listening to audiobooks, watching bad (or really awesome??) reality TV, and tending to her friendly flock of chickens.
