Shenay graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University having earned a bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling with an emphasis in Alcohol and Drug Education and Rehabilitation Programming. She later attained a Master’s degree in Education from Salisbury State University with emphasis in community counseling.

Shenay is dually credentialed as a mental health and substance use disorder provider. She has been licensed as a professional counselor since 1998 and has worked in community mental health for over thirty years. Shenay has experience in treating children, adolescents, adults and families. She also enjoys providing gender specific treatment groups to women and adolescents impacted by substance use disorders as well as their families.

Shenay has had several specialty trainings and interests including but not limited to Cannabis Youth Treatment/Motivational Enhancement Treatment (MET/CBT), Trauma Focused CBT, Foster Care and Adoption Competency, Seeking Safety and Transitional Age Youth.

She is a member of the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Counselors (NAADAC) and the Virginia Association of Addiction Professionals (VAAP).
